My brakes lock up in the cold for the first 30 seconds or so of driving. Why is this?

I had a similar problem with my gmc pu .turned out to be the front brake hoses.they are not that expensive.on my vehicle it was the right front.yet all info data said to replace the front hoses in pair's. so I replaced both.the hoses are made of rubber and somehow wear over time.
